چکیده

Optical holographic interferometry was used to study standing sound waves in air inside a resonance tube driven by a small loudspeaker at one end. The front face of the resonance tube was constructed of plexiglass, allowing optical interrogation of the tube interior. The object beam of the holographic setup was directed through the plexiglass and reflected off the back wall of the resonator. When driven at resonance, the fluctuations in the air density at the antinodes altered the refractive index of the air in the tube causing interference patterns in the resulting holographic images. Real-time holography was used to determine resonance frequencies and to measure the wavelengths of the standing waves. Time-average holography was used to observe the effect of increasing the sound pressure level on the resulting fringe pattern. A simple theory was developed to successfully predict the fringe pattern.

Visualization of ultrasonic wave interferometry fronts using holographic

Holographic interferometry with a phase-modulated reference beam is used to visualize a progressive ultrasonic wave in the interior of a transparent medium. The medium is illuminated with sheetlike light, and the light scattered from the plane of the light sheet is recorded in the hologram. The ultrasonic field on the plane is obtained from the reconstructed image, which provides the equiphase ...

An application of holographic interferometry to acoustical holography

Holographic interferometry with a phase-modulated reference beam is applied to an acoustic holography. A very thin, flexible, optically reflective membrane, called a pellicle, is used in the liquid as an acousto-optic interface. The method involves three processes: the motion of a pellicle caused by an ultrasonic wave is recorded as an optical hologram using holographic interferometry; the opti...

Quantitative visualization of weak shock waves by phase-shift holographic interferometry

By applying two-reference beam interferometry together with digital data processing, a correspondingly modified double exposure holographic interferometer has been used to measure the density distribution in flow fields generated by very weak shock waves. The weak shock waves were generated by the explosion of milligram charges of silver azide, which were ignited by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. With ...

Measuring the deposited energy from a non-ionizing laser beam in water by digital holographic interferometry

Digital Holographic interferometry is a powerful and widely used optical technique for accurate measurement of variations in physical quantities such as density, refractive index, and etc. In this study, an experimental digital holographic interferometry setup was designed and used to measure the amount of energy changes induced by absorption of radiation from a non-ionizing infrared laser beam...

Holographic Study of Wave Propagation in Granite

Three techniques of holographic Interferometry were developed to study the response of geological materials to propagating stress waves. Two of these techniques, stored-beam Interferometry and double-exposure Interferometry, were found effective when applied to studying smallamplitude wave propagation. The third technique, a form of time-average holographic Interferometry (which produces fringe...
